UICSO - Union Interprofessionnelle de la Châtaigne du Sud-Ouest

WHAT IS THE UICSO ?

The Union Interprofessionnelle de la Châtaigne du Sud-ouest is an association created in 2005 by the actors of the chestnut sector of the South-West basin, producers, producers' organizations, marketers and processors.

Its role is to lead any collective action working for the defense, the promotion and the development of the production of chestnuts and sweet chestnuts from the 1 800 ha of orchards of the South-West

1425 ha of orchards are committed to Organic Agriculture.

More than 90% of the sector is specialized in the marketing of fresh fruit, where the largest fruits of good quality are sought after. Essentially marketed from mid-September to the end of December, they can be found on markets, supermarket shelves, grocery stores...

THE MEMBERS OF UICSO

The association gathers :

- The departmental professional committees and unions of the Dordogne, Corrèze, Lot and Haute-Vienne

- Producer organizations: Périgourdine, Socave, Limdor, Quercy Primeur, Fermes de Figeac, Terres du Sud

- Marketers: Limdor, Socave, Mourgues fruits, Fruits Rouges du Périgord, Valcadis, Pasquet sa and Decorin sarl

- Processors: Valade, InovFruit, Andros and Ponthier

THE ACTIONS OF UICSO

The UICSO answers to 4 main missions:

- Defend and represent the interests of the regional chestnut industry with the various public and political authorities

- To inform on the balance of the market

- To promote the regional production (communication, implementation of labels...)

- To increase the potential of chestnut production to meet the needs of the market (optimization of the existing production, deployment of new orchards)
