This project is located in Riaillé in Loire-Atlantique. Afforestation will take place in place of agricultural meadows which are currently undervalued, adjoining existing forests. This afforestation project will make it possible to further extend these forests over 13.45 hectares, using a diversified mix of species. The planting is planned for the winter of 2023-2024 and will sequester 3699 tons of CO2eq in 30 years*.
Biodiversity: 5 different species have been selected for this afforestation: sessile oak, downy oak, hornbeam, field maple and wild apple tree. The species chosen have been studied to resist global warming while being adapted to current conditions. 100% of the afforestation is therefore made up of deciduous trees and the alignments of already existing trees will be preserved.
Socio-economic: PEFC certification is planned to guarantee sustainable management of the plantation.
Soil preservation: The plot will be prepared for planting with tillage in strips, to limit the impact on the life of the soil and avoid releasing the carbon contained in the organic matter.
