This project is located in Neuville-Coppegueule in the Somme. Afforestation will take place in place of agricultural meadows which are currently undervalued, adjoining existing forests. This afforestation project will make it possible to further extend these forests over 4 hectares, using a diversified mix of species. The planting is planned for the winter of 2023-2024 and will sequester 1194 tons of CO2eq in 30 years*.
Biodiversity: 10 different species have been selected for this afforestation: sessile oak, downy oak, chestnut, beech, hornbeam, wild service tree, service tree, cherry tree, wild pear tree and wild apple tree. The species chosen have been studied to resist global warming while being adapted to current conditions. 100% of the afforestation is therefore made up of deciduous trees and the alignments of trees and hedges that already exist will be preserved.
Socio-economic: PEFC certification is planned to guarantee sustainable management of the plantation, and the company that will carry out the forestry work is only 6 km away.
