In March 2022, Manon, Kathy and Théodore acquired a 10 ha farm in the town of Plumergat in Morbihan. They have since developed several agricultural projects there. Among them, a fruit tree nursery specializing in the production of local and old varieties (Pépinière Bourgeons d’Ici). The projects currently under development concern a diversified market gardening activity, a workshop for laying hens in dynamic pasture and a mixed orchard project (apple pear) for the production of apple juice and farm cider. All these productions are and will be marketed under the Organic Agriculture label but their motivation goes beyond simple agricultural production.
They also want to replant poplars on the farm to restore bocage landscapes typical of their region. Afforestation will take place on agricultural meadows that are currently undervalued, adjoining woods. This afforestation project will make it possible to further extend these forest areas over 1.4 hectares. The plantation is planned for March 2024 and will sequester 577 tonnes of CO2eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity: Existing wood edges will be preserved and planting will create new leafy borders.
Socio-economic: A local forestry work company has been selected to carry out the work, and the plantation will be PEFC certified.
Soil preservation: The plot will be prepared for planting with tillage in pots worked, to limit the impact on the life of the soil and avoid releasing the carbon contained in the organic matter.
Preservation of water resources: The plot adjoins the "Le Sal" stream. A maintenance operation of its banks is planned at the same time as the planting. Poplar was chosen for its excellent adaptation to this humid environment.
