In March 2022, Manon, Kathy and Théodore acquired a 10 ha farm in the town of Plumergat in Morbihan. They have since developed several agricultural projects there. Among them, a fruit tree nursery specializing in the production of local and old varieties (Pépinière Bourgeons d’Ici). The projects currently under development concern a diversified market gardening activity, a workshop for laying hens in dynamic pasture and a mixed orchard project (apple pear) for the production of apple juice and farm cider. All these productions are and will be marketed under the Organic Agriculture label but their motivation goes beyond simple agricultural production.
They also want to replant hedges on all of their land in order to recreate a bocage landscape as it was in the past. 891 meters of new hedges will be planted and 2,502 meters of pre-existing hedges will be reconstituted or enriched to form multi-layer hedges (made up of trees and shrubs). The management of these hedges is covered by a sustainable management plan detailing all the maintenance work which will promote its proper development and maintenance.
This project will sequester an additional 67 tonnes of CO2eq in 5 years*.
Biodiversity: use of local plant species adapted to the region, including willows, oaks, chestnut trees, ash trees, etc. Multi-layer hedges and conservation of dead trees to promote accommodation for various animal species.
Socio-economic: planting work carried out by local companies.
Water preservation: Part of the hedges to be restored are located along the Sal river. Watercourses present challenges in maintaining the banks, filtration of surface water and shading in summer, to which hedges contribute.
