Examples: reducing the frequency of soil cultivation, minimalist plot preparation, restoring organic matter and preserving soil microfauna.
Examples: diversity and locality of crop species, preservation of habitat for local flora and fauna, presence of beehives for pollination.
Examples: territorial dynamics, societal demand, diversification of the activity, local sales/processing, working conditions, sharing of good practices.
Pépinières Naudet is one of the main French producers of young forest plants, which are planted all over France.

Due to the shortening of cold winters regulating insect populations, bark beetles are developing exponentially and nibbling away at stands.
This epidemic mainly affects forests in northern and eastern France, causing rapid dieback and even death. The phenomenon is easily identifiable, with stands turning from green to brown or white, and becoming sensitive to the slightest gust of wind. These "dry" woodlands end up crumbling to the ground, leaving a desolate landscape and no longer capture CO2. If the forest is neither adapted nor renewed, this situation can lead to its gradual disappearance. As the trees are no longer valuable, silvicultural management is also compromised. This is known as "silvicultural deadlock".
This 33.2-hectare reforestation project at Dainville-Bertheléville in the Meuse region will store 9,380 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over 30 years*. The plots concerned by the project were completely harvested because of the bark beetle. Unfortunately, the existing stand was almost monospecific, making reforestation essential. It was decided to plant a mixture of 16 species (alisier torminal, calocèdre, Atlas cedar, sessile and pubescent oak, American red oak, cormier, plane maple, douglas fir, European larch, cherry, Calabrian Laricio pine, Austrian black pine, giant and evergreen sequoia, small-leaf lime) better adapted to prolonged hot periods.
Biodiversity: Some of the selected species are indigenous, the others are more adapted to climate change. The diversity of species planted is exceptional. The edges of the plot will be mainly planted with deciduous trees and the few healthy trees preserved.
Soil preservation: Work on the soil before planting will be done only on the planting line, in order to preserve these carbon-rich forest soils.
Socio-economic: The reforestation will be PEFC certified and a local forestry works company will carry out the work.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative verification decision.
