The Ormes forest, a historic jewel once owned by the Dukes of Lorraine, is today facing an unprecedented environmental crisis. The shortening of cold winters has triggered an exponential proliferation of bark beetles, endangering the natural balance of the region.
To respond to this challenge, Pierre Aussedat and Carbonapp are joining forces to launch an innovative reforestation project. This project aims to offset the equivalent of 1,023 tonnes of CO2 in 30 years*, thus contributing to the fight against global warming. Selected trees, such as Douglas fir, beech and larch, are chosen for their resistance to climate change and their ability to significantly store CO2. Beyond reforestation, a sustainable management plan will be put in place, encompassing the entire massif to ensure long-term preservation.
Forestry enthusiasts, Philippe Aussedat included, underline the major challenge they face. The Haroué forest is managed with ecological techniques such as natural regeneration and the mixture of species, ages and diameters of trees.
Socio-economic: Integration of people at the heart of the project thanks to an educational approach, including welcoming and raising awareness of the public involved. This social dimension aims to create a common understanding of the importance of the forest, thereby strengthening the links between the local community and its natural environment.
Biodiversity: Continuation of the long-term commitment to the fight against global warming, by opting for resilient tree species capable of storing significant quantities of CO2. Promoting biodiversity through the deliberate choice of native species and the conservation of healthy trees within the reforestation project.
