Creation of 12.51 hectares of forest in Pas-de-Calais
This project is located in Fiennes in Pas-de-Calais. Afforestation will take place on undervalued agricultural land, adjacent to already existing forests. This afforestation project will make it possible to further extend these forests over 12.51 hectares, using a diverse mix of species. The plantation is planned for February 2024 and will sequester 4,332 tonnes of CO2eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity: 11 different species were selected to achieve this afforestation: maple, sessile oak, beech, chestnut, American red oak, cherry, linden, hornbeam, torminal service tree and poplar. The species chosen have been studied to resist global warming while being adapted to current conditions. 100% of the afforestation is therefore made up of deciduous trees and the existing lines of trees will be preserved.
Socio-economic: PEFC certification is planned to guarantee sustainable management of the plantation. In addition, a local forestry work company was selected to carry out the work.
Soil preservation: the plot will be worked only on the tree planting line.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative verification decision.
