This project takes place in the commune of Marcilly-la-Gueurce in Saône-et-Loire. The initial planting on this plot was decimated by a storm in August 2021 and violent hailstorms that hit eastern France at the end of June 2022. The reforestation project involves replanting 2.8 hectares of the area with maritime pine and American red oak. The project will sequester 920 tonnes of CO2eq over 30 years*.
In terms of co-benefits :
- Local players in the forestry sector will be asked to work on this project.
- Planting will be carried out in tilled pots to limit the impact on soil life and avoid releasing the carbon contained in the organic matter.
- Surviving trees on the outskirts of the plot will be preserved.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative decision on verification.
