Creation of 6.37 hectares of forest in Pas-de-Calais
This project is located in Conteville-en-Ternois in the Pas-de-Calais department. The afforestation will take place on little-used grassland adjoining existing woodland. This afforestation project will extend these forests by 6.37 hectares, using a diversified mix of tree species. Planting is scheduled for January 2025 and will sequester 1,669 tonnes of CO2eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity : 9 different species have been selected for this afforestation: sessile oak, lime, hornbeam, American red oak, chestnut, cherry, beech, flat maple and birch. The species chosen have been designed to withstand global warming while being adapted to current conditions. As a result, 100% of the woodland is made up of broadleaved trees, and the existing rows of trees will be preserved.
Socio-economic : A local forestry company has been selected to carry out the work.
Soil conservation : The plot will only be worked along the tree plantation line.
