This orchard plantation located in Brégy in the Oise department promises storage of nearly 345 tonnes of CO2 equivalent in 20 years*. The Haquin farm is a family business of farmers and breeders, of which Henri Haquin represents the 7th generation. It is a heritage and a family passion passed down through the generations. His father and uncle were farmers. Henri farmed with his uncle for 6 years before taking over the shares to manage the entire farm. Today, he employs 4 people full time. Henri Haquin is dual active and therefore spends part of his life in Paris. This situation allows him to see the difference in knowledge, vision between Parisians and agricultural life, it is the basis of an educational and agricultural project. He does not see his farm as a simple exploitation, but also as a tool for training, agricultural extension and pedagogy. He thus develops reception facilities so that his farm can serve as a seminar center for companies and school classes. The goal: to raise people's awareness and show them the reality of agricultural work.
The Haquin farm represents a reasoned and multi-sectoral agricultural activity, which is reflected in many areas.
Soil conservation: the farm is engaged in a movement for soil conservation agriculture. New crops have been introduced in the rotation to reduce the use of inputs and fuel.
Biodiversity: agro-environmental measures (MAE) to reduce the use of phytosanitary products have been put into practice in collaboration with the Chamber of Agriculture (R&D project). The farm will receive High Environmental Value (HVE) certification within 1 year.
Energy: planting of miscanthus in strips for grazing and powering biofuel boilers for the lodges which are managed by Ms. Haquin. In addition, with 4 neighboring operators, Henri Haquin supplies a methanizer with dedicated secondary crops.
Hazelnut orchards: after the current planting project, the farm will represent 11 hectares of orchards, spread over more than 3 plots, with 2 different varieties planted. This local operation is strongly attached to the values of the short circuit. The hazelnuts are processed less than 15 kilometers from the farm. These orchards form an ecological corridor for local wildlife. The orchards will have 80% grass cover to preserve soil and biodiversity.
