This project is located in the commune of Le Vicel in the Manche department. Afforestation will take place on a meadow adjoining an existing forest. This afforestation project will create 9.48 hectares of woodland, with a mix of sessile, pedunculate and pubescent oak, black alder, chestnut, field maple and hornbeam. Planting is scheduled for April 2024 and will sequester 2,143 tonnes of CO2eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity : 7 different species were selected for this afforestation: sessile, pedunculate and pubescent oak, black alder, chestnut, field maple and hornbeam. 100% of the woodland is therefore made up of broadleaved trees, and the existing rows of trees will be preserved.
Soil conservation : The soil will be prepared along the planting rows only to limit the amount of tillage required on the plot.
Air quality : The planting takes place within the territory of a conurbation community, and contributes to improving air quality in this more urban area.
