Part of the Iso Green group, Aislanat (ES) transforms recycled paper, collected through local recycling programmes and community efforts (including schools and associations), into high-performance insulation.
As trees grow, they capture CO2. When they reach maturity, they are felled and used for various purposes, such as printing newspapers. When newspapers are discarded, rather than letting them burn or decompose and releasing CO2 into the atmosphere, Igloo seeks to reuse this carbon-storing material. The paper is recycled and becomes the main ingredient in Igloo's cellulose fibre insulation. The insulation is suitable for both new build and renovation projects and has been used in almost 39,000 homes in the last 18 months. This storage will last for at least 50 years inside the building components.
Aislanat uses all available means to promote sustainable development and the energy transition. As part of its ecological commitment, it contributes to waste recovery: paper is collected locally and recycled as cellulose insulation. This not only reduces the volume of waste, but also ensures long-term CO2 storage and raises awareness of the circular economy.
One tonne of Aislanat cellulose insulation removes 1.04 tonnes of CO2eq from the atmosphere for long-term storage.
No combustion is required to manufacture cellulose wadding and Aislanat is careful to minimise the waste (e.g. dust) generated throughout the manufacturing process (less than 1%). Finally, thanks to its excellent thermal performance, cellulose fibre insulation offers significant energy savings throughout the year, an undeniable advantage for individuals and the environment.
