This project is located in the commune of Grand-Auverné in Loire-Atlantique. The afforestation will take place on farmland that is currently little used. This afforestation project will create 10.6 hectares of woodland, using a mix of tree species. Planting is scheduled for early 2025 and will sequester 3,813 tonnes of CO2eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity : 4 different species have been selected for this afforestation: sessile oak, laricio pine, hornbeam and downy oak. The species chosen were designed to withstand global warming while being adapted to current conditions.
Socio-economic : PEFC certification is planned to guarantee sustainable management of the plantation.
Soil preservation: The plot will be prepared for planting with strip tillage, to limit the impact on soil life and avoid releasing the carbon contained in organic matter.
Preservation of water resources: No conifers will be planted near the watercourse adjoining the plot.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative decision on verification.
