This project is located in the communes of Willeman and Fillièvres in the Pas-de-Calais department. Afforestation will take place on farmland that is currently little used. This afforestation project will create 2.26 hectares of forest, using a particularly diverse mix of species given the area concerned. Planting is scheduled for the winter of 2024-2025 and will sequester 693 tonnes of CO2eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity : 13 different species have been selected for this afforestation: sessile oak, beech, hybrid larch, Douglas fir, chestnut, flat maple, wild cherry, hybrid walnut, small-leaved lime, black alder, warty birch and hornbeam. The species chosen have been designed to withstand global warming while being adapted to current conditions.
Soil conservation : The plot will be prepared for planting with strip tillage to limit the impact on soil life and avoid releasing the carbon contained in the organic matter.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative decision on verification.
