This project is located in the commune of Gaujacq in the Landes region. The afforestation will take place on farmland that is currently underdeveloped, partly adjoining an existing forest. This afforestation project will create 7.9 hectares of forest using a mix of Rona and Polargo poplar, as well as taeda pine. Planting is scheduled for early 2025 and will sequester 2,414 tonnes of CO2eq over 30 years*.
Socio-economic : Local forestry companies (less than 50km from the site) will be contracted to carry out the afforestation. In addition, PEFC certification of the woodland is planned.
Soil conservation : The plot will be prepared for planting with strip tillage to limit the impact on soil life and avoid releasing the carbon contained in the organic matter.
Biodiversity: The edges of the woods and the lines of existing trees will be preserved.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative decision on verification.
