This project is located in the commune of Parcé-sur-Sarthe and will allow an existing grove to be extended. The afforestation will take place on currently undervalued agricultural land over an area of 9.74 hectares, using a mix of species. Planting is scheduled for early 2025 and will sequester 3214 tonnes of CO2eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity : 6 different species have been selected for this afforestation: maritime pine, sessile oak, chestnut, field maple, corm and hornbeam. The species chosen were designed to withstand global warming while being adapted to current conditions.
Socio-economic : The planting will be carried out by a local forestry company (less than 50km from the site).
Soil conservation : The plot will be prepared for planting with strip tillage to limit the impact on soil life and avoid releasing the carbon contained in the organic matter.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative verification decision.
