This 1.96-hectare afforestation of agricultural land in the commune of Auzouville-sur-Ry is led by Mr. Laroche, a farmer, who began several years ago to afforest several of his plots near existing woods, allowing the extension of a pre-existing forest massif, with the idea of being able to diversify his sources of income in the long term. In addition to his farm, Mr. Laroche had already afforested several plots on his own funds before discovering the Low Carbon Label.
With the support of Carbonapp, Mr. Laroche was able to submit an initial application to help him finance his latest tranche of planting. This is composed of 6 different hardwood species, mostly local or adapted to climate change, in order to create a resilient ecosystem: sessile oak, downy oak, hornbeam, black walnut, chestnut and black locust. Planting is planned for early 2025 and will sequester 645 tonnes of CO2eq in 30 years*.
Biodiversity: 6 different species were selected to carry out this afforestation: sessile oak, pubescent oak, hornbeam, black walnut, chestnut and black locust. The species chosen were studied to resist global warming while being adapted to current conditions. Most of these species are historically present locally.
Socio-economic: Local forestry companies will be commissioned for this afforestation.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative verification decision.
