This project is located in Bonnay, in the Somme department. The afforestation will take place on former agricultural land bordering existing woodlands. This highly diverse plantation will create 8.05 hectares of forest. Planting is planned for the winter of 2024-2025 and will sequester 2,644 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over 30 years*.
Biodiversity: Eight different species have been selected for this afforestation: sessile oak, downy oak, Atlas cedar, sweet chestnut, service tree, sycamore maple, Corsican pine, and Diva poplar. The chosen species have been studied for their resistance to climate change while being adapted to current conditions and are predominantly native. The existing woodlands nearby will be preserved and supplemented by this plantation.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative decision to verify.
