This project is located in the commune of Mozé-sur-Louet in Maine-et-Loire. Afforestation will take place on farmland that is currently underused. This afforestation project will create 5.76 hectares of woodland, using a mix of tree species. Planting is scheduled for early 2025 and will sequester 1,574 tonnes of CO2eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity : 3 different species have been selected for this afforestation: sessile oak, hornbeam and maritime pine. The species chosen were designed to withstand global warming while being adapted to current conditions. In addition, the existing woodland edges and rows of trees will be preserved.
Socio-economic : A local forestry company will be responsible for carrying out the afforestation.
Soil conservation : The plot will be prepared for planting with strip tillage to limit the impact on soil life and avoid releasing the carbon contained in the organic matter.
