Examples: diversity and locality of crop species, preservation of habitat for local flora and fauna, presence of beehives for pollination.
Examples: territorial dynamics, societal demand, diversification of the activity, local sales/processing, working conditions, sharing of good practices.
This forest, attacked by bark beetles, is suffering the consequences of climate change
Because of the shortening of cold winters regulating insect populations, bark beetles are developing exponentially and eating away at stands. In the coniferous forests of the Jura, the impact is considerable.
This epidemic mainly concerns the forests of the north and east of France and causes rapid dieback and even the death of trees. This phenomenon is easily identifiable with stands turning from green to brown or white, becoming sensitive to the slightest wind. These "dry" forests end up crumbling to the ground, leaving a desolate landscape and no longer capture CO2. If the forest is neither adapted nor renewed, this situation can lead to its progressive disappearance. The trees having no more value, the silvicultural management is also compromised. We speak here of silvicultural impasse".
This reforestation project of 1.44 hectares located at the Lac des Rouges Truites in the Jura will allow to store 512 tons of CO2 equivalent in 30 years*. The parcels concerned by the project were entirely harvested because of the bark beetle. The existing stand was unfortunately monospecific and reforestation is therefore essential. It was decided to install a mixture of species (pectin fir, sycamore maple and linden) better adapted to repeated hot periods.
-Socio-economic: A local forestry work company will carry out the reforestation, and the harvested wood will also be transformed nearby.
-Biodiversity: Reforestation will be carried out with 4 indigenous species adapted to the current and future climate.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative verification decision.
