This project is located in Auxi-le-Château in the Pas-de-Calais region. The afforestation will take place on agricultural land bordering existing woodlands. This extremely diverse plantation will create 12.1 hectares of forest. Planting is planned for the winter of 2025-2026 and will sequester 4,072 tons of CO2eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity: 11 different species were selected for this afforestation: sessile oak, downy oak, Atlas cedar, common walnut, Norway maple, small-leaved linden, hornbeam, wild service tree, Corsican pine, and poplar. The species chosen were studied to be resistant to global warming while being adapted to current conditions, or for their native origin. The existing woodlands nearby will be preserved and supplemented by this planting.
Soil preservation: The planting will be carried out in cultivated pots, allowing the soil to be worked only where necessary to plant each tree. This helps preserve soil carbon.
Water resource preservation: No conifers will be planted near watercourses that may run alongside certain plots.
* The final estimated value will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative decision.
