Located in the heart of Côte d'Or, in Marcheseuil, this project is set in a region renowned for its rolling landscapes, exceptional agricultural and viticultural terroir, and remarkable natural heritage. Côte d'Or benefits from a temperate climate, ideal for diverse crops, and a local economy focused on agriculture, viticulture, and forestry. The area boasts a strong rural history and a determined drive to balance landscape preservation, land enhancement, and sustainable development.
The afforestation will take place on currently underdeveloped agricultural plots. This afforestation project will create 6.14 hectares of forest using a diverse mix of tree species. Planting is scheduled for early 2025 and will sequester 1682 tons of CO2eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity: 4 different tree species have been selected for this afforestation: black locust, Atlas cedar, maritime pine, and Calabrian Corsican pine. The selected species have been studied to resist global warming while being adapted to current conditions.
Soil Preservation: Planting will be done in cultivated pots to limit the impact on soil life and avoid releasing the carbon contained in organic matter.
Socioeconomic: The planting will be carried out by local businesses.
