Examples: reducing the frequency of soil cultivation, minimalist plot preparation, restoring organic matter and preserving soil microfauna.
Examples: diversity and locality of crop species, preservation of habitat for local flora and fauna, presence of beehives for pollination.
Examples: territorial dynamics, societal demand, diversification of the activity, local sales/processing, working conditions, sharing of good practices.
Examples: Consideration of wetlands, use of adapted species, drip-connected irrigation tools.

The Eure department in Normandy is a verdant region with a rich agricultural history where fruit orchards have shaped the landscapes for centuries. The project is located in Caillouet-Orgeville, a small rural village in the heart of this area with loamy and clay soils ideal for fruit trees, the territory benefits from a temperate oceanic climate with mild winters and moderately warm summers, perfect for apple and pear cultivation. Historically, Normandy is the cradle of French cider production, accounting for over 50% of national cider and fruit juice output, supporting a dynamic local economy centered on agri-food and green tourism.
This project involves planting 4 hectares of organic apple trees and 3 hectares of organic pear trees during the winter of 2025/2026, to expand the fruit orchards of this agricultural operation. The plot was previously used for annual crops, so planting permanent trees will allow for greater CO2 sequestration throughout the year. This project will store 414.71 tonnes of CO2 equivalent over 20 years*.
-The orchards will be certified organic. These new plantings will therefore require less fertilizer and fewer treatments compared to previous crops, and only natural inputs are permitted. This new farming method will help avoid emissions and makes the project even more sustainable.
-The soil will no longer be tilled after planting, which will help stabilize it and preserve the carbon it sequesters.
-Permanent grass cover around the trees will be 100%, allowing for water retention in the soil while also benefiting soil microfauna.
-Weeding will only be carried out mechanically when necessary.
-The orchard will use a drip irrigation system connected to weather forecasting, activating it only when precisely needed.
-The project will help reduce France's dependence on pear imports, a crop with a trade deficit. The majority of the fruit will be sold locally.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative approval.
