BSO Production is a company of the La Blottière group embarking on arboriculture, after having bought agricultural land mainly cultivated with cereals. 10.19 hectares of pear trees will be planted as well as 3.82 hectares of apple trees.
The farms of the La Blottière group are all committed to numerous virtuous specifications: GlobalGap, Bee-Friendly, Demain la terre, Eco-responsible orchards.
The company will aim to supply local Occitanie and more generally France with apples and pears. A historic pear variety, Abate Fetel, which is currently absent from the national territory, will be reintroduced by the Blottière teams thanks to this project.
The creation of these orchards will contribute to sequestering more CO2 than the annual crops present before, while providing a simpler cultivation itinerary with fewer inputs. This saving in inputs is also calculated by the Low Carbon Label which takes into account the CO2 not released by the manufacture of these inputs which will never be produced. 765.59 tons eqCO2 will be sequestered in 20 years* thanks to this project.
In addition, the orchards will have permanent grass cover at 70% in order to preserve the soil, limit leaching and retain water, thus reducing the need for irrigation.
It will also be installed beehives, flowering fallows, nesting boxes for chickadees and bats and insect hotels to promote pollination and the natural regulation of harmful insects.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative verification decision.
