Located in the Landes region, in the commune of Aire-sur-l’Adour, this project is set in an area characterised by a mosaic of agricultural landscapes, meadows and woodland. The project involves plots of land that are currently fallow; their afforestation will help to strengthen the local forest network by creating continuity with existing copses. This new forest will also contribute to the region’s adaptation to climate change, the preservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of low-productivity land.
This afforestation project will create 7.65 hectares of woodland and extend adjacent copses. Planting is scheduled for late 2026 / early 2027 and is expected to sequester 2,072 tonnes of CO₂eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity: The planting will create new linear deciduous hedgerows along the edges of the plots.
Water resources: No conifers will be planted near any watercourse running alongside the plots.
Climate change: Some of the selected tree species help combat pollution linked to tropospheric ozone (at low altitudes), which is harmful to plant health.
Socio-economic: The planting will be carried out by a local company. It will also be PEFC-certified.
* The final value of the estimate will only be determined following verification by an independent auditor and an administrative verification decision.
