Located in the Landes region, in the municipalities of Bonnegarde and Amou, this project is set in an area characterised by a mosaic of agricultural landscapes, meadows and woodland. The project involves former agricultural land, the afforestation of which will help to strengthen the local forest network by creating continuity with existing copses. This new forest will also contribute to the region’s adaptation to climate change, the preservation of biodiversity and the sustainable use of low-productivity land.
This afforestation project will create 7.65 hectares of black locust and longleaf pine forest and extend adjacent copses. Planting is scheduled for late 2026 / early 2027 and is expected to sequester 2,525 tonnes of CO₂eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity: The planting will create new linear deciduous hedgerows along the edges of the plots.
Socio-economic: The planting will be carried out by a local company. It will also be PEFC-certified.
* The final figure for the estimate will only be established following verification by an independent auditor and an administrative verification decision.
