Examples: expansion of forests close to urban and peri-urban areas, use of wood materials to naturally regulate humidity.
Examples: diversity and locality of crop species, preservation of habitat for local flora and fauna, presence of beehives for pollination.
Examples: territorial dynamics, societal demand, diversification of the activity, local sales/processing, working conditions, sharing of good practices.
Use of effective tropospheric ozone-removing species or scientific experiments.
Pépinières Naudet is one of the main French producers of young forest plants, which are planted all over France.

This project is situated in the commune of Germinon, in the Marne department, at the heart of the Grand Est region. This rural area of the Chalky Champagne region is characterised by vast open agricultural spaces, dotted with woodland and natural habitats. Within this predominantly agricultural landscape, the development of new woodland areas presents an opportunity to diversify the landscape, strengthen ecological connectivity and promote local biodiversity. The project forms part of this initiative by replacing former agricultural plots with a diverse woodland, comprising tree species suited to local conditions and climate change.
The afforestation will take place on former agricultural plots. This afforestation project will create 21.5 hectares of woodland using a diverse mix of tree species. Planting is scheduled for the winter of 2026/2027 and will sequester 6,001 tonnes of CO₂eq over 30 years*.
Biodiversity: Five different tree species were selected for this afforestation project: downy oak, hairy oak, field maple, service tree and Calabrian laricio pine. The chosen species were selected for their resilience to global warming whilst being well-suited to current conditions.
Socio-economic: PEFC certification of the afforestation project is planned.
Climate change: Some of the selected tree species help to combat pollution linked to tropospheric ozone (at low altitudes), which is harmful to plant health.
Air filtration: The project is located within the Epernay, Coteaux et Plaine de Champagne urban community and helps to improve air quality in this urban area.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established following verification by an independent auditor and an administrative verification decision.
