Examples: reducing the frequency of soil cultivation, minimalist plot preparation, restoring organic matter and preserving soil microfauna.
Examples: territorial dynamics, societal demand, diversification of the activity, local sales/processing, working conditions, sharing of good practices.
Examples: Consideration of wetlands, use of adapted species, drip-connected irrigation tools.

Read morePlantation of 2.8 hectares of chestnut trees
Anne-Marie Cousty plans to plant 2.8 hectares of organic chestnut trees in February 2024. The selected plots were previously used for annual cereal crops.
Planting permanent trees will sequester more CO2 throughout the year compared to a temporary crop. This project will allow the storage of 155.82 tonnes of CO2 equivalent in 20 years*.
The soil will also be able to sequester more CO2 because it will no longer be worked each year. In addition, this new plantation will require little fertilizer and treatment compared to previous crops. This new cultivation route will help to avoid emissions and makes the project even more virtuous.
The project responds to social-economic issues: This project allows the operator to diversify its income thanks to a new activity. The sale of chestnuts will take place at the departmental level, and this activity contributes to reducing French imports of chestnuts.
A virtuous project: Managing chestnut trees in Organic Farming will require using only natural inputs and in reasonable quantities because the farm is also HVE certified.
Soil preservation: The soil will no longer be worked after planting the orchard, making it possible to preserve the micro-fauna that lives there and increasing its carbon sequestration potential.
Water preservation: In order to limit soil erosion, leaching and therefore overconsumption of fertilizers, 100% of the orchard will benefit from permanent grass cover.
* The final value of the estimate will only be established after verification by an independent auditor and an administrative verification decision.
